The Inn at 202 Dover is a historic mansion built in 1874 and an integral part of the historic fabric of Easton, Maryland. The town is serviced by the Easton Municipal Airport just a short drive from the inn. History of 202 East Dover Street The Inn at 202 is a historic mansion built in 1874. Like many of the homes of the era it is comprised of many architectural styles from Colonial Revival and Beaux Arts to Gothic Revival. This house is one of the few in the town of Easton which clearly shows the influence of Beaux Arts Classicism on domestic buildings. For years the building was known as the Wrightson House, thanks to its early 20th century owner, Charles T. Wrightson, one of the founders of the S&W canned food empire. Locally it is often referred to as Captain s Watch, presumably for its prominent balustrade widow s walk. From the 1940 s until 2005, the house underwent several incarnations from a private family home to an apartment house, later an office building, and finally a tenement apartment house. Restoration began in 2005 under the watchful eyes of the owners, Shelby and Ron Mitchell, Historic Easton, Easton s Historic Commission, the State of Maryland and the Department of Interior, giving this glorious Colonial Revival mansion a second life and restoring the property to its original grandeur.
