About Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks is a community on the northwestern border of Los Angeles County with historic roots in ranching and agriculture and an early home of high-technology firms. Residents enjoy the vast stretches of natural land across the Conejo Valley and the proximity to the beaches in Malibu. Today, the area is one of the largest flex-office neighborhoods in Ventura County.
Among the diverse industry composition of firms located in Thousand Oaks are many pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing companies, forming a cluster of specialization in the area. More than half of the working-age population has attained a bachelor’s degree providing an educated talent pool to the various manufacturing and technology firms.
New development in Thousand Oaks has been limited. The nine-building Conejo Spectrum is one of the few commercial parks built in the past five years and contains roughly half a million square feet of industrial space. Neighborhood opposition to further development will keep existing properties as attractive options.
