Property Overview
Located on the north shore of the Ottawa River and along Route 148, the former city of Aylmer (pop. 55,113) is now a sector of the fourth largest city in Quebec, the city of Gatineau. As a part of Gatineau, Aylmer is a part of the National Capital region and is considered by many to be the “Recreation Capital of the National Capital”. This reputation is a justified reaction to the plethora of golf courses, green spaces, spas, bicycle paths, and the beautiful marina the sector enjoys. Aylmer’s population is largely a bilingual one, with roughly 30% of the population being Anglophone and approximately 61% being Francophone. With little industry in the area proper, much of the Aylmer workforce commutes to other part of Gatineau or across the river to Ottawa. As part of Canada’s capital region, the main employer in Gatineau is the Federal government. The policy of the federal government is to distribute federal jobs on both sides of the Ottawa River and the majority of these jobs are in Gatineau
