Downtown Columbus is home to the city’s largest concentration of office space, with more than 30 million square feet, supported by strong connectivity to suburban populations via interstates 71 and 70 and public transit. More than 85,000 people work downtown, many commuting from suburban communities, and the resident base is expanding rapidly as new apartment units enter the market. These new properties, many of which are high-end and fully amenitized, in turn help to attract and retain employers, leading to a positive cycle of development and gentrification.

The public sector employs a large number of downtown workers, with multiple state agencies residing in leased and owned space.
