About Downtown Dallas

Downtown Dallas is the heart of the metro’s office market. Iconic buildings are found here that define the city’s skyline such as Fountain Place, Bank of America Tower, and Comerica Tower, many of which are results of the exuberant development boom during the 1980s. Further, sections of the city are redefining themselves beyond just an employment center; these examples include the growing Dallas Arts District, Farmers Market, the Convention Center, and the imminent revival of West End.

Despite its central location, downtown is relatively affordable, with asking rents here somewhat below the neighboring uptown area. Leasing velocity is stable, but vacancy rates trend higher as Dallas developers err on the side of building.
