Property Overview: The Baymont by Wyndham Midland Airport is a 96-room, three-story, midscale hotel. All travelers have access to bus/truck parking, business center, fitness center, laundry facilities, and outdoor pool. The Colonel’s Cafe and Hangar Lounge restaurant serves lunch and dinner throughout the week. The hotel also offers over 1,400 square feet of meeting space with two available meeting rooms. Select guest rooms have balconies and family/oversized rooms are available. Each room offers guests a flat-screen television, refrigerator, and microwave. The Property was last renovated in 2016. Location Overview: Midland, Texas is located in the western part of the state and the property sits on 10000 Airport Road, less than two miles from the Midland International Airport. In November of 2018 the Midland Reporter-Telegram stated a 15.2 percent increase in people getting on a plane. This has spurred an expansion need, and in the coming months some of the $17 million Airport Operation Fund will be used for parking expansion near the terminal since the traffic is increasing. The city is located in the Permian Basin which is a large sedimentary basin and contains the Mid-Continent Oil Field. Chevron has a presence in the basin and resourced 11.2 billion barrels of oil-equivalent with a premium production of 119,000 net barrels of crude oil daily in recent years. The Midland district also had 52 percent of the states drilling permits across the state in January of 2019 noted by the Railroad Commissions monthly report. The David Mims Business Park (3.5 miles) is home to several industry leaders and in close proximity to the property. Also, the Weir Oil and Gas company consolidated the Permian Basin service centers into a single service center and invested $30 million on a 20-acre facility in the city. This new facility will be the central hub for all of their customers which will generate room demand to the region. Technology is also transforming the region and the St. Louis-based Emerson corporation celebrated the opening of its new $4 million Permian Basin Service Center (3.7 miles) that includes education and training, local experts and technology support, full service walk-up inventory support, and several other services. This city is also investing in their medical infrastructure and the Midland Development Corporation board in February of 2019 approved additional payments of nearly $4 million in doctor recruitments. The board furthered its investment by contributing $8.4 million in health care that established a child and adolescent psychiatric fellowship program in Midland.
