Stockton's City Hall was constructed in 1926 and has been in continuous use as City Hall for 92 years. The site is bounded by El Dorado, Fremont, Lindsay, and Center Streets and includes the northern parking lot. Historic City Hall was designed by the architectural firm of Davis, Heller, Pearce & Company reflecting the architectural design of many public buildings in California in the early twentieth century. The building consists of three floors, a basement, penthouse, and porte cochere. In 1969, the site on which City Hall sites, Lindsay Point, became a California Historic Landmark for being the site of the first dwelling ever built by settlers in Rancho del Campo de los Franceses, known as present day San Joaquin County, in 1844. In 1983, City Council recognized the significance of City Hall and voted the building a City Historic Landmark.
