ABOUT 63 VICTORIA CRES , NANAIMO, BC V9R 5B9
Originally built in 1912 as “The Terminal Hotel”, the building is an example of vernacular Edwardian Commercial style. Some renovations have been made to the façade, most notably in 1951 but the upper story and essential form remains consistent over the years. Many City of Nanaimo hotels including the subject property were utilized by the transient workers of Nanaimo’s mining operations. Built by contractor J. Henry Walker and designed by Toronto architect Harvey in 1912, this hotel has been in continuous operation for over 100 years. In 1951 the hotel was reconstructed according to the plans of Thomas B. McArravy, and reopened as the “The Terminal Hotel”, named for its proximity to the Canadian Pacific Railways Terminal.
