ABOUT DOCKLANDS CORE

Canary Wharf is the UK’s pre-eminent banking hub. Its towers are home to a host of major global banks including HSBC, Barclays and Citigroup, all of whom moved here in the 1990s and early 2000s after Docklands was designated an enterprise zone. These banks support a thriving ecosystem of industries connected to financial services, including law firms, accountancy firms and public bodies. Companies moving here have been attracted by the area’s availability of large floor plates and its affordable rents when compared to the City of London. Indeed, office rents in Canary Wharf are, on average, 30% cheaper than in the City, increasing its appeal to potential occupiers.
