Property Overview
This Roosevelt Era historic structure has been converted into a modern first class multi-tenanted office facility. The main entrance to the building is the entranceway into the historically significant rotunda, which illustrates the history of the printing press and the First Amendment. This artwork was commissioned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt through the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1942. The rotunda features marble walls and a marble floor with the New York State seal embedded at the entrance. Historic reproduction insulated Marvin Windows have been recently installed to replace the single panes throughout the building. All of the marble has been restored as well as the wrought iron arch at the entrance to the building. A new bluestone patio was recently completed on the plaza with new landscaping, lighting, furniture and irrigation. This patio is for the exclusive use of the tenants of the building and has access to the buildings complimentary Wi-Fi. The Poughkeepsie Journal Building is equipped with a key card access system and security cameras throughout This Historic building is part of a municipal triad which includes City of Poughkeepsie City Hall and the United States Post Office.
