No one who knew of him or what his occupation was. Because he would act very strange by traveling at night, not looking anyone in the eyes, not engaging in conversation, no one trusted him in the town. An exception to his actions was when he got married. Friends of the woman did not want her and tried everything to keep her from marrying him. Soon they moved into what was assumed to be a hunted house on the Litchfield turnpike far from Westville and hidden back from the main road, only accessible from a narrow road. (House in front of the Captain Thunderbolt Condominium). He would avoid confrontation with people by running out of the house when people visited his wife. Soon a pamphlet from Scotland had come by offering a reward for finding the notorious robber “Captain Thunderbolt” who has supposedly fled to this country after committing numerous crimes. Many people believed that Wilson was “Captain Thunderbolt,” but for his wife’s sake, no investigation was held to determine if he committed these crimes. He later died taking his secret to the grave.
