Sundance Golf Club in Buckeye (just west of Phoenix off Interstate 10) is an 18-hole championship facility that is a fair test of golf for all levels of players. With tee boxes that range from 5300 to 7000 yards, generous fairways that play over and around Sonoran Desert washes and arroyos, plus well conditioned, sloping green complexes, Sundance presents a challenging yet enjoyable golf experience. Outstanding views of the White Tank and Superstition Mountains add to the allure. There are 50 sand bunkers situated along the landing zones on the fairways or positioned greenside while landscaped desert areas and desert washes also come into play. Carries over ponds on the 6th and 7th holes provide two water holes on the layout. Like many Arizona courses, the Bermuda rough is not over-seeded, and goes dormant over the winter months creating a two-toned color effect. Four sets of tee boxes afford players with opportunities to play from distances and slopes measuring 6,944 yards/125 slope, 6,371 yards/120 slope, 5,824 yards/110 slope for men and 124 for women, and 5,272 yards with a slope rating of 117 for ladies hitting from the front tees. On-course yardage markers are posted on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green. 150 yard stakes double as directional devices on all par fours and fives, and color coded flags indicate front, middle or back pin placements. The clubhouse features a pro shop plus a restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio that affords wonderful views of the golf course. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range and large putting green. Golfers will encounter sculpted tees and landscaped desert areas that border the ample playing surfaces, which are designed on mildly rolling terrain that features spectacular mountain vistas. The green complexes are undulating and well bunkered, but have significant recovery room. This is an interesting yet playable layout that can be enjoyed by all levels of players. The Sundance Golf Club is also one of the most reasonably priced, full-length courses in the entire Phoenix area yet still offers a beautiful, playable course in great condition. Located in the city of Buckeye, Arizona, Sundance is in a high-growth corridor. The city’s population grew from 5,939 in 1999 to 59,470 in 2015 and continues to expand rapidly. This statistic, as well as the fact that the city is a part of the large and expanding Phoenix metropolitan area, is evidence that the club will have numerous opportunities to expand its local client base as time progresses. Locally, the city of Buckeye’s unemployment rate reached 5.6% in April, 2015, which was the lowest monthly unemployment rate reading in the area since June, 2008. Further, Arizona’s unemployment rate reached 6.0% in November, 2015, which is also the state’s lowest monthly unemployment rate reading since 2008. According to these economic indicators, the momentum to engage in business operations in Arizona, and Buckeye in particular, is just right. In the Phoenix marketplace, public golf courses can face fierce competition for golfers. Fortunately, Sundance does not encounter serious competition in Buckeye, or other areas to the west of Phoenix. This provides Sundance with a major competitive advantage as it continues to serve the captured audience in Buckeye and the surrounding area.
