About 98 Miller Rd , Rhinebeck, NY 12572
SCHUYLER HOUSE HISTORY The Schuyler Grove Manor House is architecturally significant as a distinguished example of estate architecture in the town of Rhinebeck and historically significant for its associations with some of the area’s most prominent families. Schuyler House Historical Plaque Originating as a Federal period mill seat, the house was erected ca. 1795 by Phillip J. Schuyler, the son of General Philip Schuyler and husband of Sarah Rutsen. Phillip J. Schuyler’s brother in law Alexander Hamilton was a frequent guest to The Schuyler House and was known to have heated political debates with such early statesman as Aaron Burr at the estate. A set of stone gate posts and stone walls mark the northwest property line to the former tenant house. The neighbor to the northeast, the former carriage house, was designed by Stanford White and constructed while the final manor house expansion and renovation was completed. The Grove’s final manifestation (ca. 1890’s) was a small Georgian manor replete with extensive riding stables and a picturesque farm. The mansion’s interior area became as it remains today 14,000 square feet with over thirty rooms. Our proactive approach means we plan for not only short term repairs but long term needs as well. Developing a plan for a building’s mechanical and facility life span is crucial to a management plan and budget. Unexpected problems can wreak havoc on a budget and the quality of life of your residents. Although exact prediction of mechanical and system problems is impossible, good planning will work to minimize service interruptions and allow for smoother cash flow over the long term.
