River is carved through granite rock and served as first crossing of Pacolet River and site of post Revolutionary War foundry (oven still exists in granite hillside). Stone retaining walls define levels on the slope toward the river. Two historical warehouses as well as foundation of former Mill remain on site as historical artifacts. Former spring water supply for the Mill Village is on site along with a site for a lake. This was a site of early gold mining. Site included both sides of river with some properties extending to middle of river.
