Pottery Quay occupies a waterside position on the east bank of the River Tamar and is situated on the northern side of Pottery Road which, together with Ferry Road, forms the A374 serving the Torpoint Ferry terminal. The terminal lies immediately to the south of the subject site and to the north is an inlet known locally as the Tamar Canal. We understand the ownership extends to the midway point of the inlet and immediately to the north lies the HM Naval Base frigate complex. The Naval Base occupies the majority of the water frontage on the east bank of the River Tamar and the subject site lies adjacent to only one of two points of public access to the River Tamar within the Devonport dockland area.
