BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

This is one of the greater Phoenix area’s best known asphalt maintenance and repair contractors. They have purposely and thoughtfully positioned the company away from highly competitive and low margin municipal work and instead targeted apartment complexes, private residential communities, homeowner associations, commercial buildings and properties, schools, school districts, mobile home communities and industrial properties.

COMPANY HISTORY:
The company was founded in 1979 by the family patriarch. With a single paving machine and a dump truck it began as a subcontracted custom asphalt paving business performing paving work on an hourly basis for other contractors / customers. It was the customer’s responsibility to prepare all subbase and furnish all materials. The company would arrive onsite and place the asphalt with a laydown machine. The business operated solely in this manner until 2014, when a new business model was developed and implemented, moving the company into the asphalt maintenance service business. The hourly paving business was slowly eliminated as new more profitable and demanded services were introduced like crack seal, seal coat, slurry seal, asphalt patching, asphalt overlay, full depth asphalt replacement, striping & other miscellaneous services. The company has grown from a handful of employees to 53 today. They have thoughtfully expanded the extensive fleet of equipment valued at over $4M. Today, they work for a healthy and diverse clientele that trusts the company with their projects from start to finish. They are projecting double digit growth within the current geographical market for the next several years. There are no customer / revenue concentration issues, and they enjoy dozens of long-term repeat customers.

Competition
There are several similar companies in the valley, but none are identical in terms of services offered that target the non-municipal sector. Most companies in the state have less than 20 employees and this company is mid?size with 52 employees. Larger projects require the mid?size or larger companies to perform their work. The company competes with much larger competitors and currently controls ±10% of market share. They are well known for their excellent customer service and they consider it a lost art.
