Current owner branched off from a prominent $20 million/yr HVAC business and started this company over 13 years ago. He is now approaching 70 and ready to exit. The business has 25 dedicated and skilled employees and a healthy backlog of around $2.5 million plus a new $5.5 million large commercial project just signed on.
Major accounts including all servicing and installs for many large household name commercial customers. Seller claims no customer concentration issues whatsoever with all revenue very well spread out.The company is roughly doing $5.6 million in revenue with a 12 - 15% NET profit margin to the owner.
The biz does work for retail, medical, commercial spaces and much more. Company does everything IN-HOUSE and has on staff all installers, sketchers, designers, piping specialists and many others. The only thing they don’t do in-house is sheet metal fabrication. These commercial jobs can range from retail, medical, industrial, and multi-unit apartment/condo complexes.
The owner has been working in the HVAC industry for decades. The owner's roles currently include estimating and selling ("things he enjoys"). But at this point the business is set up and managed to allow me to have whatever schedule he'd like. This business has a team of 25 excellent employees including managers. The team is made up of service technicians, installers, and in office managers. They have a lead foreman and superintendent that oversee all projects. Together they are able to do virtually everything required in-house. This not only saves a huge amount on outsourcing but gives the company a major advantage over competitors as they do not rely on outsourcing or subcontracting for their jobs ensuring jobs run much smoother with minimal third party interference or complications.
OPERATION AND PROCEDURE OVERVIEW:
After an estimate is accepted for a project the design team lays out an extensive and comprehensive project plan. Once the customer is ready for install they put the plan in motion with their install crew. All parts of install is handled in-house from cutting in roughs, installing new systems, and all piping for the new systems. It is a team effort to complete these multi-million dollar commercial projects and they are able to maintain a consistent 12-15% profit margin however owner is reaching retirement age which has slowed him down. He feels a new owner will be able to increase profit margins substantially through all types of modernization and efficiency strategies that new companies are starting to implement to great success.
