Business Description
This is a good business opportunity for anyone with machining or manufacturing experience. The company is located in Riverside, California. The eighty-year-old owner is retiring after a career dating back to work on both the Gemini and Apollo projects.
The primary business of the company over many years has been the manufacture of parts per print for industrial customers. More recently the company developed a proprietary line of specialized tools. During the pandemic business slowdown, the owner’s son focused on development, production and sales of the tool line. This proved successful and led to less attention being given to the job shop business.
With the owner retiring and his son focused on marketing the tool line from a different location, the decision was made to sell the job shop business that still has long-term customers and excellent growth potential. Consider the following:
• Complete turn-key operation – buy today and virtually be in business tomorrow.
• Price includes a long list of highly functional CNC and manual machines with accessories.
• The value of the machines, equipment, tooling, fixtures, furnishings, etc., far exceeds the asking price.
• Price includes fully furnished, well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned offices with functional desks with over-desk storage compartments, computer hook-ups, multi-landline desk phones with shop paging and intercom connections, filing cabinets, visitor chairs and tables, two restrooms and adequate parking immediately in front of the offices.
• Price includes an Inspection Department with extensive measuring tools and devices.
• Price includes a Shipping and Receiving Department area.
• Price includes a combination lunchroom/Conference room. There is also a small kitchen area with countertop space, a sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and storage cabinets. A first aid cabinet is also in this area.
• There are two separated high-ceiling production areas with skylights and LED fluorescent lights. The first is devoted principally to CNC bar fed turning centers and support equipment.
• This area has a second floor with rows of floor to ceiling metal shelving for storage. It is forklift accessible. A triple mast forklift is included and used for receiving metal bars and pallet loads of heavy items.
• The second production area has a large number of manual machines and a 5-axis CNC Machining Center. For job shop manufacturing it is necessary to machine parts for a wide variety of companies. For small quantity orders it is often faster and more economical to run these on manual machines rather than CNC. It is a benefit having the option and manual machines are also good for 2nd operations on CNC parts.
• Large quantity orders can require substantial storage capacity. To deal with storage needs the company has heavy duty pallet racking that the high ceiling facilitates with use of the included triple-mast forklift.
• The company enjoys another storage advantage. Less than 150 feet away are many rentable commercial storage units. On a monthly basis the company has rented these for materials to be transferred to and from the storage units by forklift or truck.
About the Sale
The company occupies two rental units of approximately 3,500 square feet that the landlord is willing to lease to a new owner. The condition of the units is excellent. This is an offer to sell the assets of the business for an ongoing job shop operation. The Buyer will enter into a new lease agreement with the landlord. The owner’s son will retain ownership of the company for marketing the proprietary tool line. This purchase should be a tax benefit for the Buyer because the assets can be IRS depreciated. The purchase of assets frees the Buyer from concerns that potential undisclosed company liabilities may exist.
