BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

Sugar Glider breeding business

We are one of the larger sugar glider breeding and sales operations in Colorado. We are a USDA licensed breeding operation that has a good reputation as a breeder, and pride ourselves on our overall care and husbandry practices. We operate our business from our home and spend approximately 20-25 hours weekly caring for the animals and managing all aspects of the business. This would be a good part-time job opportunity. Last year, we produced and sold over 130 sugar glider joeys. We produce many colors and genetics of sugar gliders and specialize in mosaic varieties as well as recessive genetics. While Colorado residents, and those from surrounding states, make up the bulk of our customers, we also have access to USDA licensed transporters and can transport animals throughout the continental United States.

Competition
We are one of the larger breeders in Colorado but we market across the US and have transporters setup to deliver gliders to other states when necessary. Most of our business comes from our website but social media is also a valuable tool.
Growth & Expansion
We grew the business into 2 bedrooms of our house and ran out of room to expand any further. There is room to grow, but keeping online exposure current is crucial. There is lots of opportunity to grow the social media exposure. We didn't do as much with social media as we could have because we didn't need the extra demand to sell what we produced. There are certainly opportunities there. The con for growing more is the continued support of the customers and the maintenance required to maintain the large number of breeding pairs.
