BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

Education Works is a specialty toy store and a Parent/Teacher Store. We have classic toys, collectibles, children's books, educational supplies for the home and classroom, science kits, pretend and play, outdoor play, infant and toddler gifts. It's just a great all around toy store! In the July/August we emphasize teaching supplies and have a very busy "Back to School" for teachers to decorate their classrooms.

Facilities
All fixtures, computers, lighting, decor, POS software, massive inventory database with sales histories by manufacturer, pricing guns, speaker system, electric locking gate system, Web URL and emails. Basically everything we have acquired to run the business will convey. The sales price will be $50000+ wholesale value of the inventory at the time of sale. Inventory can go up and down depending on time of year and repurchasing but $100,000 is a good ballpark.
Competition
Danbury Fair Mall is the highest grossing mall in CT. We are the only toy store in the mall but Target and The Lego store are there as well. Target sells "mass market" toys that differ from our selection and Lego is the same demographic but not the same. Both really enhance shopper traffic for our store due to proximity. The Parent/Teacher Store is without local competition and teachers often come from New York and MA to shop with us. Online sales has been our largest competition over the last ten years. We do not sell online but that is available!
Growth & Expansion
We had four stores in CT at one time. Running multiple stores is very time consuming and it requires special skill to maintain quality control. Human resources becomes more capital intensive. Product margins do improve with the higher sales from multiple stores and it becomes easier to move through products that you wish to phase out. Danbury was the highest grossing store & my best employees have remained. Sales are good enough to get great manufacturer attention with this store alone. An owner/operator will benefit greatly if they choose to manage it.
Support & Training
Owner will remain for phone support and advice for a negotiated period.
