Bio
Mr. Saad, a native of Greenville SC, has served as Director of Foster Saad & Company since 1986 and A.L. Saad & Company since 1982. He is a 1970 graduate of the University of South Carolina, and holds a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Saad has been Broker in Charge for the company for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Mr. Saad’s results-oriented approach has enabled him to recognize and develop potential in a diverse range of real estate development and management projects. He began his career as an accountant with the South Carolina Employment Security Commission in the early 70’s, then joined Joe Edens Real Estate in 1971 as a sales and leasing associate. While with the Eden’s brokerage firm, Al represented income properties exclusively and managed office and apartment buildings. In 1973 after joining Joe Jenkins Realty, he assumed responsibility for all phases of real estate development including negotiations for shopping centers, motel and office park sites, as well as multi-family projects. Grenadier Corporation in Columbia employed Mr. Saad in 1974, and he became a partner with responsibility for all phases of development and leasing of a 300,000 square foot enclosed mall (Woodhill Mall, Columbia SC), which was sold in 1982 for ten million dollars. In 1998, Mr. Saad acquired the 188,000sf Outlet Pointe Mall (now known as Outlet Pointe Center). Through his innovative approach, he transitioned the retail mall into an office complex, which is now at 100% occupancy. He has also developed single tenant retail properties statewide like Auto Zone and O’ Reilly stores. Additionally, he has headed larger vertical development like Wood Hill Mall, TD Bank (1501 Main Street), Bell South Headquarters, Sara Lee, Xpedx and Cummings Distribution Centers with development costs ranging from one to twenty-five million dollars. Mr. Saad continues to pursue the development of income properties, including office buildings, retail centers, industrial warehouses and apartments throughout SC.
