I have been in business most of my career, starting with a bookstore that sold educational materials soon after I graduated from college. I got interested in solar energy and went to work for an architect. From there, I changed to landscape design worked for a landscape architect. I started my own firm, designed primarily residential gardens but also some civic and commercial landscapes and received various awards for my design work in Arizona and Colorado. I then decided to open a garden center which I operated for 15 years.
