Ariel Harwood joined Newmark in April 2021 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin’s School of Business in June 2020. Through her experience majoring in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, combined with her deep-rooted family involvement in Real Estate, Ariel developed a strong passion for the Industry.
During Ariel’s Junior year at Wisconsin, she interned at The Moinian Group where she was a part of the Commercial Leasing Team directly reporting under the Director of Commercial Real Estate, Gregg Weisser. Ariel’s responsibilities in this role included evaluating marketing strategies of potential acquisitions, redevelopments, and ground- up developments.
Following graduation in 2020, Ariel started her career at the Heracles Acquisition Fund where she took on the role as an acquisition analyst. Focusing on the acquisition and refinancing of non-performing notes, Ariel analyzed the fair market value, targeting non-performing note acquisitions and modeled potential loan repayment scenarios. At Heracles, Ariel established a foundation of underwriting skills and identified how to source note purchase opportunities through community banks and bridge lenders.
Ariel Harwood currently serves as an associate at Newmark Headquarters in Manhattan where she works directly under Vice Chairman William Cohen, Managing Director JD Cohen, and Director Jarad Winter. Since joining Team Cohen, Ariel has assisted in the completion of over 70 leasing transactions, totaling over 400,000 square feet throughout New York City.
