Bio
Brian Butterfield specializes in Office Tenant Representation at Cushman & Wakefield, where he has worked since 2012. A native of the Lone Star state, and an Austin resident for more than 15 years, Brian is both personally and professionally invested in the long-term economic health and vibrancy of Austin. To each of his clients he brings a keen understanding of the culture of city, the professionals that give it meaning to him, and the nuances of the submarkets and product types. Brian works with a range of clients both entering and long-established in the market. In the past year, he has completed deals that moved VC-backed start-ups into their first growth-ready HQ’s, and played a key role on the Austin Business Journal’s 2015 office transaction of the year – Athenahealth’s move into 113K SF of the newly-renovated Seaholm Power Plant. Before he established himself in commercial real estate more than a decade ago, Brian worked with start-ups in Austin, and Portland, Oregon. The experience gives him insight into the day-to-day challenges of his clients, and the ability to creatively solve challenges to financing, growth, and employee recruitment and retention that he brings to his perspective in office brokerage. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Brian was a Top Producer for Grubb & Ellis from 2010-2012. Brian is in the midst of a 14-year, uninterrupted run of Austin City Limits Festival participation, and regularly participates in SXSW music, film and interactive. Brian, his wife Meredith, and their two children are residents of the Zilker neighborhood.
