Carlton Ervin is Global Development Officer, International, of Marriott International, Inc. In this role, he oversees development efforts for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region as well as the Caribbean & Latin America (CALA), Greater China and Asia Pacific Excluding China (APEC) regions.
Most recently, Mr. Ervin held the position of Chief Development Officer, EMEA from 2020 to 2021 and, before the merger of the regions, led Marriott’s development efforts for all brands in Europe from 2009 to 2019.
From 2002 to 2008, he held the positions of Vice President and then Senior Vice President of Caribbean & Latin American Development for Marriott.
Before joining Marriott’s Lodging Development Department in 2000, Mr. Ervin worked as a development attorney for Marriott's Legal Department, focusing on transactions in the Caribbean & Latin America. Prior to that, Mr. Ervin was an associate in the corporate banking division of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York City from 1996 to 2000.
Mr. Ervin holds a Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from Harvard Law School and a dual undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science (magna cum laude) from Duke University.
