Charlie Kabbash was born in Clifton, New Jersey. He graduated Clifton High School and Seton Hall University and served honorably in the U.S. Army. Charlie began his career in the fabric business in the New York/New Jersey market after being discharged from the military. The fabric business provided great experience in competition and negotiation for the future. While working in other fields, Charlie began to grow his own rental real estate portfolio and discovered that he had a natural aptitude for real estate. After obtaining his first Real Estate License in New Jersey in 1974, Charlie began his career in commercial real estate. Charlie relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1980. He was drawn to Virginia because of weather, history, and beautiful rolling countryside. However, he fell in love with Charlottesville, in general, and the Historic Downtown, in particular. Charlie became a very active and successful commercial realtor, having participated in many redevelopment projects in Downtown Charlottesville by securing representation of some of the most desirable commercial listings. Even with a full professional life, Charlie always made time for fulfilling his civic responsibilities. Among other charitable ventures, he was an original member of the First Night Virginia committee and served as Chairman of the Piedmont Division of the March of Dimes. Charlie is also an accomplished chef and a lifelong fan of the New York Giants. Charlie is particularly proud to be a Founder of Sona Bank and a member of its Board of Directors.
