Bio
As President and Chief Executive Officer, Chris is responsible for establishing the company’s overall vision and strategic direction. He oversees the Brokerage and Asset Management service lines, leads the pursuit of new business opportunities across all services lines and maintains strong relationships with clients and business/community leaders. In addition, he serves as Managing Principal of the firm’s ownership group.
Chris joined Gershman Commercial Real Estate in 2013 as Executive Vice President of Transactions and Advisory Services, where he was responsible for leadership of the firm’s brokerage, transaction and advisory services division. In that role, he led the acquisition of over $160 million of investment property on behalf of Gershman Commercial Equities. In 2019, he was elevated to President and CEO and in 2022 he led the acquisition of the company from the Gershman family.
Chris’ commercial real estate career began in 1992 as a property manager for Bakewell Corporation, a local development company. He then joined Cushman & Wakefield’s St. Louis office in 1998 and was elevated to Managing Director in 2004. Chris played an instrumental role in the creation of Gateway Commercial in 2005 where he served as a Partner and Managing Director. Gateway operated as an independently owned firm and member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance. His professional experience includes property management, lease negotiation, occupier advisory, landlord representation and investment sales.
Chris has an extensive background in real estate and leadership, holding several key positions across various organizations. He served as Past President of the Missouri Growth Association (MGA) and have been actively involved with the St. Louis Association of Realtors (SLAR), where he was a Board Member, Past President, and a former member of the Board of Directors. Chris also held leadership roles with the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) organization, including serving as Past President and on the Board of Directors. Additionally, he was a Past President and member of the Executive Committee for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Chris has also led as Past President of the Commercial Information Exchanges (CIE) and is licensed as a Real Estate Broker in both Missouri and Illinois.
