Bio
Dan Custer was born in the Los Angeles area and raised there and in Houston, Texas. He graduated with a double major in International Business and Marketing with a concentration in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He started his real estate career with International Capital, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. At International Capital, Dan was responsible for several office warehouse and retail centers. By implementing an aggressive rehabilitation of the older properties and using an active hands-on approach, Dan was able to significantly increase occupancy rates from below 55% to above 90%. Dan later joined the Heritage Group in North Dallas, an asset management company, working with the large REO Portfolio of the S&L’s. It was there that Dan concentrated on the large investment properties. In 1991, he started his real estate sales career, achieving top unit sales in his 1st quarter. Dan was a consistent Top Circle in 1995, and the Coldwell Banker Platinum Circle in 1996. From 1997 to 2002. Dan sold multi-family properties as a commercial broker for the Cantrell Company in Dallas, Texas. Dan was consistently a Top Producer, closing 579 units in his first full year with the firm. In 1999, Dan recognized an opportunity to form his own limited partnership and began purchasing distressed properties in Central Dallas. In the spring of 2003, Dan left the Cantrell Company to devote full time to growing the portfolio of properties. Since 2003, Dan has grown Custer Properties, LLC into a multi-asset company encompassing Retail, Office and Multi-Family Investment Properties. Currently Dan is concentrating on value-add opportunities in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas and growing the company across multi-product types including office, retail, multi-family, mini warehouse and outdoor signage. By completing extensive renovation on the properties and actively managing the bottom line, Dan has been successful on turning non-performing and under- performing assets into profitable, well managed investment properties.
