Don Dreesen graduated from Wayne State College in 1970 with a BAE in education. He entered the U.S. Army for three years, serving in Korea and Germany. After leaving the Army in 1974, he taught at St. Edward High School for two years while selling real estate part time.
In 1976 he began selling real estate full time as a salesman with Austin Realty Co. He was with Century 21 for 25 years. In 2002 Don and his wife, Kathy, became affiliated with HOME Real Estate and opened up their own office in Columbus.
While with Century 21, he received the Centurion Award annually for 11 years; the Masters Diamond Club Award in 1992 and 1993; the Masters Hall of Fame Award in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
Don has also earned the Graduate Realtors Institute and Certified Residential Specialist ratings.
He has been a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, the Nebraska REALTORS Association and the National Association of Realtors. He was on various committees for the Columbus Board of Realtors, serving as President in 1985 and 2009 and receiving the Realtor of the Year award in 1992.
Don served three elected terms on the Columbus City Schools Board of Education and served as President for 2 years. He serves on the Transportation Committee of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. He coached Little League baseball and girl’s softball. He is a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, Sertoma Club, Noon Rotary Club, VFW and Legion Club.
Don and his wife, Kathy, are the parents of five children. Michelle & Dan Epstein, Omaha, NE; Michael & Gina Dreesen, Austin, TX; Megan & Dino Sgourakis, Molly & Nick O’Tool, and Morgan & Michael Clark all of Omaha, NE; and have 11 grandchildren.
In his spare time Don likes to work on antique automobiles and motorcycles and likes reading history books.
