As an Executive Managing Director of Global Occupier Services, Don Schmidt is responsible for several corporate accounts in which he is the single point of contact for their real estate services such as Transaction Management, Lease Administration, Facilities Management and Project Management. Globally, Don has completed over $1.8 billion in projects and transactions in over 280 cities and 20 countries, covering wide complex portfolios such as office, industrial, land, and retail throughout the world. Mr. Schmidt previously worked for Colliers International. In his role as National Director of the Energy Practice Group, Don's leadership led a team of 39 brokers throughout the world and their implementation of their business plan for companies that service and support the oil, gas, petrochemical, LNG, electric and coal industries. Additionally, one of Don's roles was to lead the greater Texas Region for the Corporate Solutions Americas organization business development and client relationship management. As and industry expert, Don was selected to speak at Real Estate Management in Corporations (REMIC) International Conference in Moscow, Russia. His conference speech covered the Structure and Organization of Corporate Real Estate in Oil & Gas companies. Additionally, he has two publications that cover the energy industry: Colliers Knowledge Leader, Value Creation: What Falling Oil Prices Mean to CRE (December 19, 2014) and North America Report, Energy Group, Energy Perspectives (November 3, 2015). In the Private Equity Sector, Don has hosted CFO round tables and assisted management in their value creation process by reviewing their companies' real estate portfolios and value adding strategies. Understanding the importance of Best Practices, Don organized Texas Instruments and Microsoft for a round table discussion on Best Practices, hosted at Microsoft's headquarters. The topics covered Data Centers, Facility Management, Project Management, and Transaction Management.
