C. Douglass Izard is Broker and Managing Partner with WaterMarke Realty Group LLLP focusing on commercial and investment real estate and business brokerage. Doug has been a business consultant for over 38 years in the areas of strategic business planning, education, taxation and accounting. Doug was most recently a business consultant and Intellectual Property licensing manager for IBM. Doug has held senior leadership roles in knowledge management (CKO for Americas) with KPMG, LLP and an SES position in the US Federal Government (Dean, School of Taxation, IRS). He was a practicing CPA and a professor in the School of Business, at the University of Tennessee, where he was also director of the Master of Accountancy program. He had 28 years reserve military service including holding positions as Finance Battalion Commander, Chief Finance and Accounting Officer, Chief Internal Analysis and Review, Brigade Finance Officer, Systems Information Officer and State Supply Management Officer.
Dr. Izard holds a PhD in Accountancy with supporting areas of Corporate Finance and Taxation. His dissertation topic was the impact of taxation on commercial bank profitability. He also holds MBA and B.S. degrees. He has been a CPA in Mississippi and Tennessee. He is a graduate of the US Army War College. Dr. Izard has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed articles in the area of taxation, accounting and education.
Doug is an avid outdoorsman enjoying boating, fishing, hiking and biking. When time permits, he also enjoys golf, hunting, shooting (skeet and pistol), scuba (certified divemaster and rescue diver), swimming, woodworking and reading.
