Mr. Edmond A. Swad, Jr. has over 30 years of experience in the public accounting industry. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University in 1986. He received his certificate as a Certified Public Accountant in 1988, after receiving the required two years of public accounting experience. Currently, he is a licensed to practice public accounting in Michigan and several other states.
After graduation from Michigan State University, Mr. Swad was employed by Arthur Andersen & Co. for approximately four years, working primarily in the audit and the litigation support practices. He worked with large publicly held companies, as well as larger middle market companies in the manufacturing and newspaper industries.
In 1989, Mr. Swad joined Swad & Company, Certified Public Accountants in Livonia Michigan. He became a shareholder/officer of the company in 1998. For the past 30 years Mr. Swad has worked with closely held businesses and their owners providing tax, estate, retirement, and general business planning as well as providing financial audit and review services for the companies. Mr. Swad is currently entrusted to be the trustee and is responsible for over 100 million dollars in trust assets for various clients. In addition, Mr. Swad has provided litigation support involving a variety of issues and has provided testimony regarding valuation issues, tax and audit issues, and damage claims.
Mr. Swad is active in his community and has served on the board of trustees for a local community hospital, as well as other non-profit organizations.
Mr. Swad is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and is active in Swad & Company’s memberships in the Surety Association of Michigan, the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, the Construction Association of Michigan and the Associated General Contractors. Over the years, Mr. Swad has been discussion leaders and has taught sessions in association with the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. The sessions taught included various topics in the audit and tax areas of accounting as well as estate tax planning.
