Bio
Elliot "Butch" Nanos knows restaurants; he and his family have owned many during the course of his lifetime. Elliot's father emigrated from Greece and brought with him the only skills he knew - cooking. From there, he opened two restaurants on his own, in which Elliot worked as a teenager. Elliot learned his father's trade and continued the family tradition by opening two successful restaurants in his career. In 1964, Elliot joined the military and worked his way to the rank of Major in the Army Corps of Engineers. He has received various awards and honors. In 1977, Elliot built and opened Ted's Restaurant, a now well-known University of Connecticut landmark. He extended Ted's Restaurant by building an addition and opening Ted's Giant Grinder Shop (a take-out sub shop). In 1995, Elliot had a vision of a jazz and blues club with a New Orleans flair in a small town in Connecticut. He recruited a strong staff of management and brought that vision to life. In 1996, he opened Husky Blues and Nightclub - an award-winning restaurant with live entertainment. Elliot attended Manchester Community College in Connecticut, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management. There, he received Dean's list honors. Elliot and his wife have two children and three grandchildren. He is also a member of St. George Greek Orthodox church in Hartford, CT, and Saint Mark in Boca Raton, FL.
