In 1975 he joined the shops department of Jones Lang Wootton (now JLLaSalle) where he was responsible for the letting of several major shopping developments together with acting on individual properties throughout England and Wales – including lettings, sales, acquisitions, rent reviews and lease renewals. Graham qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1982, after fitting in studying for the RICS exams while fulfilling his duties in full-time employment!
Graham expanded his area of specialisation when he opened his own practise in Mayfair in 1985 to include investment sales and acquisitions. Whilst he continued to act for and advise a number of Landlords and Developers, he also started working more and more closely with Retailers giving advice in connection with their existing units and their expansion plans. This involved a close “grass roots” working relationship with each retailer, seeking and negotiating suitable locations upon their behalf together with providing them with advice in respect of a variety of Landlord and Tenant matters.
For the last 10 years working in association with a well-known firm based in Guildford, Graham has developed a reputation of being a leading retail expert in the town. He has detailed knowledge of rental and investment values, available properties, retailers seeking re-sites/new units in the area, etc; Graham has acquired units for clients throughout Southern England. Due to the close personal relationship which he builds with his clients, they frequently re-instruct him on all property matters, including rent review and lease renewal negotiation.
In summary, Graham’s substantial experience in the general retail market, together with his extensive knowledge locally, provides him with unrivalled insight into the Guildford and regional market. Furthermore, having closely advised both Landlords and Tenants over 40 years in respect of a wide variety of property matters, he has gained detailed knowledge of “both sides of the fence”, enabling him to provide expert advice and guidance.
