Originally from New Orleans, LA, Jim is a twelve-year Asheville resident, licensed real estate broker and active real estate investor. Jim has earned a reputation among peers and clients alike, as one of Western North Carolina’s most respected real estate professionals. His experience with urban infill development and familiarity with new urbanist design principles will assist him in leading the in-house sales and marketing team at Thompson Street. Jim has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation conferred by the CCIM Institute. The CCIM designation is awarded upon completion of a post-graduate-level curriculum and attainment of a level of qualifying experience. CCIM’s are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and investment analysis, and form a business network encompassing 1,000 markets throughout North America. Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners in North America, only 7,000 currently hold the CCIM designation. Jim’s experience includes participation in strategic planning, management of budgets, retention and leadership of personnel, transaction management and license law compliance. Jim also retains responsibility for land assemblage transaction management. Jim has been instrumental in bringing about multiple land assemblages, assisting in the crafting of strategic plans and retaining primary responsibility for their tactical implementation. As an experienced real estate investor and one of the area’s most respected transaction professionals, Jim’s commercial and residential experience, combined with his extensive knowledge of infill redevelopment and adaptive reuse, have strongly benefited many clients. Focusing his activity in the areas of master planned development, complex land assemblage, infill redevelopment and adaptive reuse, Jim has been able to leverage the combination of a strong reputation, experience and a broad and respected relationship base for the benefit of his clients. Jim’s outstanding reputation combined with the breadth of his relationship base in the Asheville market, have been pivotal in enabling the Thompson Street Apartment development team to earn the respect and cooperation of the Asheville business community. As a real estate investor, manager, developer, and third party agent/consultant Jim’s responsibilities include the optimal management of successful acquisition, disposition, leasing and property management of a portfolio of real property in the Asheville/Hendersonville markets. For the past ten years, Jim has been a consistent top producing commercial real estate professional in the Carolinas. One of Jim’s most valuable professional skills as a real estate owner/operator and practitioner is the intimate knowledge of how successful deals get structured. Jim’s brokerage business is primarily focused on development enabling as a consultant hired to orchestrate and guide the interrelated activities of the development process; beginning with the demand-based market analysis driving land planning studies within the regulatory constraints of the local market optimized by the financial credibility and ultimately the profitability of the project.
