James is a Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Industrial & Residential at The Meridian Group (TMG). James joined TMG in 2022 and is responsible for the design and implementation of TMG’s industrial and residential strategies throughout the United States. He is a member of both the Investment Committee and Management Committee. Prior to joining TMG, James spent 21 years in various roles at Goldman Sachs. He was named Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in 2013. James helped to build the multifamily acquisition and development platform within the Merchant Banking Division and started the industrial platform within the Merchant Banking Division as well. At the time of his departure from Goldman Sachs, James was the head of multifamily platform and co-head of the industrial platform within the Asset Management Division. During his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he served on various investment committees including the Merchant Banking Division’s Global Real Estate Investment Committee and was a member of the Asset Management Division’s Americas Real Estate Investment Screening Group. During his time at Goldman Sachs, he was directly responsible for the acquisition and development of over $12 billion of real estate in the Americas.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, James was an analyst at Arthur Andersen in the Business Consulting Group. James has served on various boards including the NMHC Board of Directors, the SMU Mustang Club, and Greystar Real Estate Partners. He holds his Series 7, Series 79, and his Series 24 securities licenses. James earned a BA in Accounting from Southern Methodist University in 2000.
