Jim Malless moved to Lakeland from Indianapolis in July 1989. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and began his planning career in 1984. He earned both his Public Administration undergraduate and master degrees from Indiana University/Purdue University in Indianapolis and worked in the Indianapolis City Planning and Zoning office.
Jim worked with the Polk County Planning Division for 7 years; he was involved in the development of the Comprehensive Plan and review of development proposals. For the past 6 years, Jim has worked in the wireless telecommunications industry to site and permit cellular towers.
Jim is not a stranger to the real estate business due to his extensive involvement in the planning and zoning side of the industry for over twenty years. He brings a wealth of experience to the industry.
Jim is also very active in the community. He is currently the Chairperson for the Polk County Power Plant Committee and serves on the Board of the Lakeland Kiwanis Club He is also a member of the City of Lakeland Historic Preservation Board where he serves on the Design Review Committee and the Historic Homes Workshop Committee. He is also on the Board of Historic Lakeland Inc. serving as the Treasurer. Jim is active in the Polk Museum of Art where he serves on the Red, White and the Blues Committee. He is past president of the Dixieland Historic District Neighbor where he was instrumental in the formation of the Dixieland Community Redevelopment Area.
