JJames A. Ryffel is the Founder and President of Woodcrest Capital and Woodcrest Enterprises, Inc., which was founded in 1981 to pursue investment acquisition opportunities and to broker commercial real estate, operating under Woodcrest Real Estate and Woodcrest Management. Woodcrest Capital, LLC, a Fort Worth, Texas based diversified investment and venture finance firm has been involved with and participated in many significant acquisitions and financing initiatives nationwide.
Ryffel was a founding investor and former director of Flashnet Communications, Inc., one of the largest Internet Service Providers (ISP) in North America at the time. The company was sold to Mexico-based Prodigy. Mr. Ryffel was also the founding investor and principal of The Inventity Group, which founded Fortify Inc., which was sold to Hewlett-Packard in 2010.
The Inventity Group is a professional consulting practice that creates, guides, and expands businesses on behalf of its clients and partners. The Inventity Team seeks to apply their knowledge and creativity to optimize value for enterprises around the world. General Partners of the Inventity Group are located in California and Tokyo. The general partners have been involved for many years in technology and venture capital, and have also served as advisers and senior management to companies in areas of strategic planning, product development, and marketing. Inventity’s current fund, named the Inventity Global Fund II, LP, concentrates on technology and logistics companies. Past fund investments include New Vine Logistics, On Ramp, Fortify and LignUp.
Through Woodcrest Capital, Ryffel is a participant in strategic investing for the oil and gas, media, entertainment, technology, software, healthcare, ranching, and banking industries. He has served as President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Longhorn Council of Boy Scouts of America and is a current Member of both the Boy Scouts Foundation Board and the National Executive Board. He is also a Member of the High Adventure Committee and is Chairman of the Philmont Ranch Committee for the Boy Scouts of America.
Ryffel is the benefactor and founder of the Ryffel Entrepreneurship Center at Texas Christian University, as well as the Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of Camp Eagle, a Christian camp which serves thousands of children each year, located in the Texas hill country.
Woodcrest’s portfolio and partnerships include properties throughout Texas and other opportunistic markets which are primarily concentrated in neighborhood, retail, suburban office, and freeway-front regions.
Woodcrest Oil and Gas was founded in 1998 to take advantage of competitive oil and gas prices. Woodcrest Oil and Gas currently owns a portfolio of working and royalty interests in Texas and is currently active in the Barnett Shale in North Texas.
Mr. Ryffel holds a B.B.A. Degree, MBA Degree, and Ranch Management Certification from Texas Christian University. He is a native of Bozeman, Montana. He lives with his family in Fort Worth, Texas.
