Jay earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, M.S. from the University of Baroda, India, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois. He founded Desai/Nasr Consulting Engineers over 30 years ago and has developed the company to be one of the largest and most well respected structural consulting firms in Michigan. Jay’s experience includes structural analysis and design of major and award winning structures including office buildings, parking structures, shopping centers, convention centers, health care and research facilities, educational, religious and recreational facilities, housing complexes, as well as major renovation projects.
Jay is a founding Board of Directors member of the Structural Engineers Association of Michigan as well as a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, American Concrete Institute, National Society of Professional Engineers, Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, and Structural Engineers Association of Illinois. He is a Certified Structural Engineer (SECB).
As a member and chair person of Structural Engineers Association of Michigan, Jay is involved in the efforts to enhance the image of Structural Engineering profession. Jay has met with city officials and presented seminars on “Special Inspection Requirements”.
Jay is well recognized by his clients and colleagues for his innovative and cost effective approach to structural design.
