Prior to college, JB Dehkordi was mentored in the family-run, mid-rise, mixed-use commercial, and planned community construction. Lessons learned from building massive commercial development projects laid the foundation for his career in building automated systems, which embody a similar collection of processes, best practices, terminologies, and guidelines.
JB completed a postgraduate degree in software engineering (3.89 GPA) while leading projects in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and California working for McDonnell Douglas State Government Services. In 1990, JB forewent acceptance to the University of California (UC Berkeley) PhD program when he was offered a highly challenging management opportunity that included leading the divestiture of automated systems in the state's social services giant—the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services with 45,000 employees, in support of the new Department of Health and Department of Children and Families.
Along with managing 32 new and existing automated social services and federally funded programs, JB directed 6 managers with over 78 technical staff and contractors. He led new initiatives: Custom-coded multilingual application programming interface incorporating massive legacy code, an award-winning modernization system processing $5 billion annually; enhanced while reducing duplicates in a $1.6 billion annual collection system; and delivered one of the largest gaming projects with an annual $9 billion, operating today in 12,500 locations statewide.
Following FRS retirement, JB gut-renovated foreclosure & 1031-exchange single-family homes and office & retail commercial properties in prime locations. JB published five real estate digital and printed magazines while driving 127,000 miles on weekends, distributing them to Duval, Saint Johns, Jefferson, Leon, Wakulla, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Gulf, Jackson, Calhoun, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Walton, and Okaloosa Counties. The in-person canvassing of North Florida provided him in-depth knowledge of the real estate market.
