Jerry Gaines joined Block & Company, Inc., Realtors as a specialist in food and beverage sales and leasing.
He was formerly Secretary/Treasurer of Sidney’s Restaurant, Inc., a chain of 24-hour coffee shops, drive-in restaurants, and in plant feeding. He also operated many other restaurants such as Snooty Fox, Leather Bottle, Maggie Jones, and Southport Cafe. In 1987, he received the coveted Restaurateur of the Year award.
In 1988, Jerry joined the J.D. Reece Company as a real estate associate. In 1989, he moved to the J.D. Peterson Commercial Real Estate Company and remained there until 1993. In 1993, Jerry joined Block & Company, Inc. where he has continued his niche restaurant work. He has sold or leased over 50 restaurants in Missouri, Kansas and other nearby states.
In 1990, he was asked to join the staff of the Missouri Restaurant Association. Gerry was the Field Service Representative, representing the Missouri Restaurant Association, the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association as well as the National Restaurant Association. He has enrolled well over 600 new members in the Association.
He has been active in a many community organizations. For 22 years, he served as a City Councilman for Prairie Village, Kansas, including a period as Mayor Pro-tem as President of the Council. He established the government channel, PVTV, on cable television and served as Committee Chairman of the Public Works, Safety and Television committees. He is currently a member of the National Association of Realtors, Missouri Association of Realtors, Metropolitan Missouri Real Estate Board and Kansas Association of Realtors. Jerry has also served on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America and as President of the Loose Park Garden Center Association. He is a founder of the Men’s Garden Club. Jerry now serves as a permanent Director of the Missouri Restaurant Association and the Greater Kansas City Association.
Jerry resides in Prairie Village, Kansas, with his wife, Shirley, and has three grown children.
