With a strong background in real estate finance and entrepreneurship, Jeremiah "J. J." Unger started Rareform Strategies, LLC in 2013 and is a liscensed broker at KW Commercial Black joining a team of successful agents focused on their clients. Leading the NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson’s retail division since 2006, J. J. represented many major retail tenants and landlords in the Portland metro area. Some recent transactions include exclusively representing Umpqua Bank in launching its neighborhood store concept, assisting John’s Incredible Pizza in leasing 50,000 sf for its first location outside of California, bringing Trader Vic’s back to Portland, and helping numerous restaurants and businesses find locations in downtown Portland’s entertainment district.
J.J. has also helped landlords stabilize their properties, including the lease-up and repositioning of General Growth Properties’ non-core, grocery-anchored shopping centers before their disposition in December 2010. He also represented Quattro Development in the acquisition, lease-up and disposition of many NNN investments, and has assisted multiple institutional landlords with stabilizing single-tenant and grocery-anchored properties.
Prior to NAI NBS, J.J. was Director of Operations for Gelazzi, Inc.™ and was instrumental in the store’s expansion. He has also served as a financial rep for AIG.
J.J. graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, with a focus on Finance, Real Estate and Entrepreneurship. He earned the International Council of Shopping Center’s Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) designation, and has completed Leasing I and II Institutes through ICSC’s John T. Riordan School for Professional Development. In June of 2014 he received a Masters in Commercial Property (MiCP) from the Lipsey School of Real Estate he attended at Pepperdine University in Irvine, CA. He previously served as the Oregon ICSC Next Generation State Chair and continues to be involved with all aspects of the community.
