Bio
Joel W. Hiser is a highly experienced commercial property real estate professional. He has a broad base of work experience with all types of commercial real estate with an emphasis on hotels, resorts and other hospitality related assets. Specific areas of expertise include: hotel and resort property sales, hotel and multi-family residential management, development services, debt and equity procurement, and retail center/office building leasing and management. He has also served as a court appointed receiver for numerous court cases involving commercial real estate assets of varying size and complexity including cases converted to bankruptcy status.
During his career, Mr. Hiser has served in the capacity of a partner or a senior real estate executive and executive committee member for four large international companies. These executive management positions included oversight of two hotel focused real estate portfolios with property values well in excess of $1 billion each. He has acquired, brokered or financed several hundred million dollars of hotel and resort properties, including the purchase and financing of such well known hotel assets as the Millennium U.N. Plaza Hotel – New York, Biltmore Hotel & Office Tower – Los Angeles, Bostonian Hotel – Boston, Marriott Wailae Resort – Maui, Four Seasons Hotel – New York and the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel – Chicago. He has also developed, owned and managed several hotels.
Mr. Hiser is a certified public accountant (I) and a licensed real estate broker in multiple states. He graduated from The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University. He earned an MBA degree from California State University – East Bay. As a very visible member of the hotel industry, he has written a number of articles for trade journals and has often been featured as a speaker at industry conferences on matters related to hotel brokerage, property management, development, franchising and financing.
