John Boland joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2016 as a vice chairman in the firm's Washington, DC, office, where he focuses on the representation of tenants throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Mr. Boland brings to his position 30 years of experience representing clients in transactions such as leases, lease recasts/terminations, subleases, purchases, sales and build-to-suits. Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Boland was an executive director with Cushman & Wakefield, where he gained invaluable expertise in strategic consulting, negotiating complex leases and managing built-to-suit projects. As chief advisor to, and negotiator for, some of the Northeast's most distinguished companies and law firms, Mr. Boland has negotiated transactions valued in excess of $2 billion and has been directly involved in assignments totaling over 2 million square feet. Drawing upon his background as both a real estate attorney and broker, he assists tenants in their search for office space and in the complicated lease negotiation stage.
Education
Mr. Boland graduated from Georgetown University, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/marketing.
