Bio
John is a licensed real estate salesperson since late May 2003. He earned an Associate Broker's license in August 2006. He obtained the Accredited Buyer Representative Designation in 2004 and graduated from the Real Estate Institute with a GRI designation in 2006. He has been a member of the Clare Gladwin Board of Realtors, serving as a Trustee in 2007, Treasurer from 2008 to 2009, and on the Finance Committee in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
He graduated from Harrison High School and has lived in Harrison for the majority of his life. From 2006 to 2011, he was the Broker/Owner of Red Oak Realty. He also held positions as the President of Harrison Little League, Vice President of Harrison Athletic Boosters, and Director of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce from 2003 to 2007. Since 2006, he has been a member of the City of Harrison Planning Commission, currently serving as the Chairman since 2011.
John has also been a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Harrison since 2010. From 2008 to 2011, he served as a liaison from the Planning Commission to the Downtown Development Authority for the City of Harrison. He represents the private sector for Clare County on the Workforce Development Board of Michigan Works Region 7B and is a member of the Executive Steering Committee for the same organization.
Additionally, he is the owner of Carlstrom Enterprises and a part owner of Mid Michigan Bail Bonds. John is a father of four children and a grandfather to eight grandchildren. He enjoys golfing, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at his cabin in upstate Michigan.
