John specialises in commercial property throughout the United Kingdom. Whilst dealing with the asset management of a broad range of properties, John's particular expertise lies in valuing, acquiring, selling, developing and investing in property projects. This includes retail, office, industrial and leisure properties together also with development land. He acts for a variety of clients with property portfolios throughout the UK, including private Trusts, family companies and individuals, as well as banks, financial institutions, and developers, based both here and abroad. Investment is a particular specialism. John has years of experience acquiring investment properties, advising clients and managing their varied portfolios so as to ensure optimum performance in line with their risk aversion. Besides his experience in commercial property John also has considerable expertise in combination investment within LLP and other structures. His long term relationship with clients is testimony to his success on their behalf. From a Cumbrian farming family John is also a partner within the farm business, based near Southwaite, between Carlisle and Penrith. He joined Edwin Thompson in 1974 becoming a member of the RICS shortly afterwards, and was elected a Fellow in 1988 when he also took over the management of the firms Carlisle Office. John is an appointed valuer for The Agricultural Mortgage Corporation plc and an RICS Registered Valuer.
