His team provides investment property advisory and brokerage, investment fund structuring and real estate investment management to high net worth families and individuals. His team also provides advisory services to privately held operating companies seeking to enhance enterprise value via various real estate strategies including sale leaseback and private fund structuring. John has 25 years' experience in the real estate and real estate finance industries. In his current position one of his primary responsibilities is sourcing debt financing on behalf of client investors. John's clients benefit from his twenty years in the banking industry during which time he provided construction and permanent financing on a wide variety of property types including office, industrial, multi-family, medical office, skilled nursing and hospitality. Prior to his role at Colliers International, John was a Senior Vice President of Founders Investment Properties (FIP) which spun out of Founders Investment Banking in December 2011. FIP focused on providing advisory services to middle market companies seeking to maximize enterprise value by monetizing real estate via sale leaseback transactions. The company also managed Foundation Fund Management Company (FFMC) which created several niche private equity funds to invest in real estate. John's responsibilities at FFMC included overseeing acquisitions and managing investment properties. In 2012, FIP went into partnership with Colliers International to offer an expanded menu of commercial real estate services unique in the Alabama market. Before joining FIP, John was Senior Lending Officer at Aliant Bank, a community bank with $900 million in assets and 13 offices in Alabama. Over 13 years he helped grow the loan portfolio from $350 million to $750 million. John chaired the bank's Senior Credit Committee and was instrumental in creating its credit underwriting department. He had primary responsibility for interfacing with the bank's regulators, the Federal Reserve and Alabama State Banking Department. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, John was involved in the decision making process of the bank's strategic and operational initiatives. John also served on the bank's Board of Directors for 10 years. John began his banking career in 1988 with SunTrust Bank in Atlanta where he was a member of the bank's Real Estate Finance group. At SunTrust his focus was extending construction loans to developers of medical office buildings, industrial warehouses, apartments, office buildings and hotels. John also oversaw the takeout of these construction loans by life insurance companies. During this time at SunTrust, John also worked in the bank's corporate and investment banking group, gaining a great deal of experience in the underwriting of operating companies. At Colliers John uses this experience to underwrite the credit of tenants in net leased single-tenant properties.
