Bio
John is a Partner at Espada Real Estate and Espada Capital Management. In this role he is responsible for a wide range of development and investment activity including the sourcing, underwriting, financing, construction and management or disposition of projects.
Prior to Espada, John served as a Principal with REATA Real Estate in San Antonio, TX where he worked for the Company’s development subsidiary in a similar capacity. John joined REATA from CBRE, Inc. where he was a Vice President and the founding member of its San Antonio Retail Services practice. He and his partners were responsible for the firm’s retail, hospitality and land brokerage business in San Antonio and south Texas. During his tenure at CBRE, John generated more than $150 million in total consideration with more than 200 transactions throughout the region.
John’s brokerage clients included such notable landlords as InvenTrust, Retail Properties of America, Inc. (RPAI), Coventry Real Estate Advisors, H-E-B Shopping Center Group, RioCo and the Trammell Crow Company. He also represented a portfolio of nearly 50 tenants which included Bank of America, Sprint, Conn's Home Plus, Gander Mountain, Pacific Dental Services, ExxonMobil and The University of Texas Co-Op, among others.
Prior to CBRE, John worked at Trammell Crow Company and The Coca-Cola Company. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
John is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, The Texas Biomedical Research Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Alamo Heights Little League. He is a past member of the Rotary Club of San Antonio where he is Co-Chair of the Norman Vestal scholarship committee and serves on the Diploma Plus scholarship committee for at-risk students.
