Bio
Joe Harkins has provided real estate brokerage and advisory services to a diverse group of corporate users and property owners for over 33 years. During his career, he has spearheaded the leasing of over 4 million square feet within the New York Region and has represented a broad and distinguished tenant roster of clients. Joe returned to Cushman & Wakefield as an Executive Director in 2012, becoming a member of the firm’s national Tenant Advisory Group. His earlier tenure earned him Downtown NY Broker of the Year honors in 1994 and multiple national Top 100 rankings throughout his 15-year firm association. Joe then served as a principal with the Staubach Company from 1999-2007, establishing its Downtown Manhattan office and attaining consecutive national Top Achiever honors. He subsequently was executive managing director at Grubb & Ellis, where he was local market leader for its national Tenant Advisory Group. Select major assignments include procuring the largest lease at the Empire State Building in 2009, representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in their relocation from Downtown. Similarly, his 2004 representation of the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission to the World Financial Center (Brookfield Place) was the largest new lease Downtown and a REBNY Deal of the Year finalist honoree. Post 9/11, he had led their emergency lease procurement to the Woolworth Building from the former 7 World Trade Center. In 2000, Joe concluded the two largest data center transactions in the region, which totaled over 400,000 square feet. And in 1995, he co-led Cushman & Wakefield’s site location consulting for Swiss Bank Corporation (UBS) and its HQ relocation to Stamford, CT. In addition to his long relationship with Guardian Life, other notable clients include Verizon, Royal Bank of Scotland, HarperCollins Publishing, SunGard, Carroll McNulty & Kull, LLP, City National Rochdale, TM Capital Corp, Bell Canada, Auerbach Grayson & Co., and AXA Reinsurance.
