Joseph began his career with Ostendorf-Morris as vice president of commercial leasing and property management. In 1982 he entered the Industrial Brokerage Department as an industrial/investment broker and in 1994 was promoted to Vice President of Sales. Joseph was promoted to Head of the Industrial Brokerage Group in 2013.
Joseph is a dominant member of the industrial brokerage community, assisting clients in all aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, build-to-suit transactions, negotiations and consulting. Among the many companies he has done work with are Amana, Aquatech, AT&T, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Edgepark Surgical, Banks Baldwin, Bostik, Carson Pirie Scott, Duke Realty, DuPont, Quaker State Oil, Hodell-Natco, Holcombe Educational Materials, Lake Business Products, Metro Health, Motorola, NationsRent, Pennzoil, Power Equipment Supply, Quimby Material Handling, Sedlak Furniture, Raytheon, State of Ohio, and West Law Publishing.
With respect to land acquisition, Joe was on the Gateway/OM team that served as the official acquisition agent for the Greater Cleveland Domed Stadium Corporation, which assembled 43 parcels in downtown Cleveland to make way for Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena. The Gateway development was the largest private, central-city property assemblage ever successfully concluded in the country.
In 1995, Joe was awarded both NAIOP’s Industrial Deal of the Year for a transaction with National Paper & Packaging and also NAIOP’s Office Deal of the Year for a transaction with Banks-Baldwin Law Publishing. In 2000, Joe was awarded NAIOP’s Industrial Transaction of the Year for an $84 million sale-leaseback involving the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a Texas investment group and a local user.
In May 2003, Joe earned NAIOP’s award for Broker of the Year, 2002.
As a member of the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors, Joe earned the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and has taught real estate classes at Lakeland Community College. Joe served 6 years in the Army National Guard and holds an FAA Commercial Pilot’s License.
Joseph began his professional career with Peat Marwick & Mitchell, an international accounting firm. He then joined TransCon Builders, Inc., a large Cleveland-based apartment and home builder working in their sales, construction, and property management divisions. After five years there, he joined the commercial/industrial brokerage firm of Premier Barnes & Co. that subsequently merged with Ostendorf-Morris.
